An Indian movie based on the life of Ramaiya Vastavaiya, a former actress who leads a simple life of meditation and culture of purity after suffering at the hands of the media. The film uses traditional dance and music to tell this story. Bhagavan Ramana is an old retired judge who is struggling to get over his wife's death that came shortly after his retirement. When he finds out that her last will states that she would like him to act as her spiritual guide while she lives elsewhere, he decides to take up this role in order for him to fulfill his duties in the world once again. One day while walking the streets, an actress named Ramaiya Ki recalls her days as a child actress and starts to reminisce about her past. She remembers how she came close to succumbing to the temptations of fame and glamour, and how she eventually found God and purity and got rid of the temptation. She remembers how she was examined by doctors, who said that her problem is not mental or physical but spiritual, so she has stopped acting though now, thanks to those doctors who saved her from those temptations even now those doctors are trying to film her once again as a patient in a hospital as they claimed that it will be beneficial for their research. One day when she was in a rural area, she once again hears the voices of her previous fans and cannot resist them and leaves the place and goes to the city to deal with these temptations once again. She returned to her apartment after a while but no one was there. The next morning she went out and sat on a bench in her balcony, but there were no cars or people around. ................ On the street nearby, Bhagavan Ramana happened to walk past Ramaiya Vastavaiya's house at this time; he also saw no movement inside the house. He walked up to the window and knocked on it, but no one answered. Bhagavan Ramana then proceeded to walk around the grounds of Ramaiya Vastavaiya's home until he found a note from her on the door, which asked him to come in. In this note, Ramaiya Vastavaiya told Bhagavan Ramana about her life and her problems and how she has been trying to remain pure and God-like and also asked Bhagavan Ramana to take care of her. After she told him about her story, something she had never done in the past, she abruptly fell down from the chair and died. Bhagavan Ramana then decided to stay at Ramaiya Vastavaiya's house and hopefully help her out in a permanent way, for he could not believe that a man could die just because he was not a fan of her. Soon, both man and woman started sharing the same dream daily where they would see their previous lives together as adults and babies playing with each other as children.
